SUDDEN THREAT hits big!
Good day Variance Zealots!
As many of you know, AJ Tata, author of Sudden Threat, was on Fox and Friends this past Saturday (for those of you who didn't get to see it, the video is above). What you may not have known is the book skyrocketed that day to Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com bestseller status within hours of the segment airing! Though there was a slight mistake with the title at first, Tony did a great job throughout the entire three minute interview. Way to go! If you haven't bought it yet, it comes highly recommended by many, including Brad Thor! How can you go wrong there?
Still months away, Steve Alten is making waves for his fourth installment of MEG, HELL'S AQUARIUM. If you are an Alten fan, check out his latest interview.
Last, but certainly not least, a few updates on Jeremy Robinson. The most recent Virtual Book Signing went off without a hitch (again!). Thanks to all of you who signed up for the event! If you missed out and would like to get in on the fun, let us know! We would be more than happy to host another one in the coming months if there is a demand for it. Also, his (regular) book signing this past Saturday was also a great time... standing room only! There was great discussion with topics including Antarktos Rising and Kronos, especially from a new found fan, Domenick, up front. I'm sure we will see more from him in the industry in the future =)>.
I think that's it for now! Talk to you all soon!

Fox and Friends, Author Signings, and Reminders!
Good morning all!
This is aimed to be a power-packed posting today... starting off with our first hardcover novelist getting on a nationwide news program! That's right, AJ Tata, author of Sudden Threat, will be on Fox and Friends this Saturday, January 24, 2009! He will be showing up in the studio at 7, so wake up early with the kids, throw on a pot of coffee, and show your support to one of our nations war heroes. He will be talking about his novel, the USO Wounded Warrior Fund (which is up to $15k donated from Tony!), among other things. Congrats Tony! Also, for those of you who are in the area, AJ will be at the Union League Club of Chicago on February 13! It will be a luncheon event starting at 11:30am CST and ending around 1:45pm. For more information, visit the Union League Club of Chicago site.
Next, a reminder to those of you out there in Illinois, Joseph Flynn's book signing is still on tonight at the Springfield Barnes and Noble! It starts at 6pm CST, and will have plenty of copies of The President's Henchman for him to sign and sell... if you are still on the fence whether or not to buy it, a new blurb has gone up on the book page dropping names like Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett - what a complement! Great job, Joe!
Last, but not least, Jeremy Robinson's newest thriller, Kronos, was released today! If you enjoyed Antarktos Rising and are a fan of Steve Alten, then you'll love Kronos... be sure to wear your life preserver though - boat accidents happen... and while we are on the subject of Robinson, we would like to remind you that he will have a book signing this weekend, January 24, at the Newington, NH Barnes and Noble from 1-3pm! It will be a sit down event, so be sure to bring your questions! Both of his novels will be available for purchase.
Thanks all!

The President's Henchman Released Today!
Good day Zealots!

In case you haven't been keeping up with the blog, or you've been living under a rock =)>, you know that today, January 13, 2009, is the Official Release of The President's Henchman by Joseph Flynn! If you are reading this, that means you have internet access at this moment... which means you can go to The President's Henchman webpage, read the blurbs from others who think this book is the greatest thing since sliced bread (including ForeWord Magazine!), and in turn order the book directly from our website through Amazon.com. Of course, you can always ask for it by name at your local bookstore, and in turn they can order it in for you if they have none in stock.
TPH has all the makings of a great read... intrigue, humor, insight on today's political happenings... all just in time for the inauguration of our newest Commander-in-Chief! Help us make this another amazing seller as you have Sudden Threat and Antarktos Rising! For you Springfield, IL residents, if you would like to meet Joe in person, I invite you to wait until January 20 and attend his signing at Barnes & Noble starting at 6pm. Supplies are limited, so be sure to get there early to reserve your copy for his 'John Hancock'... or Joseph Flynn as the case may be. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more author-events coming soon!
Thanks!

The 2009 Events Roll In!
This year certainly has not slowed down! Nor should it... with the quality Variance is producing, the sky is truly the limit. With events from Steve Alten, Jeremy Robinson, AJ Tata, Joseph Flynn, and Steven Savile, there is a bit of everything for our fans to choose from - including book signings, author appearances, and radio interviews... you can certainly satiate your need for your favorite author until you can grab a copy of your favorite new title! To check out all of our author appearances, head on over to the author-events page! We've improved it by separating the event types (book signings/radio interviews/other events{tv/in-person}), then put them in chronological order so you can check out who is next in line!
Are you looking for a specific author and don't see them? Don't hesitate to ask! As soon as we find out when their next event will be, we will be sure to get back to you.
Thanks!

Jeremy Robinson vlog - week 6
Sorry that this was overdue again... my old camera died and I had to get a new one (doesn't it look and sound good?). There are 2 things on the agenda for today, #1 - podcasting news, #2 - a note to fellow authors, and also a question at the end...
#1a - Scott Sigler, a friend and podcaster, has a new book coming out named CRYPT. I along with others were asked for input for his book, so I have a character sketch/storyline posted at Scott's site. You can find it towards the bottom of the page titled Bought and Paid For. It came out around Christmas time, hence the reason it's at the bottom. So, if you want to hear Scott reading me, check it out!
#1b - J.C. Hutchins (another podcaster like Sigler and Seth Harwood) reviewed KRONOS (for release on Jan 20). To check it out, just google Jeremy Robinson and it's on the 1st page about 1/2 way down (or visit his site, jchutchins.net). And congrats to him as some of his podcasts are being printed by St. Martins Press!
#1c - We are trying to podcast KRONOS... it's still in the works though. When we finalize a narrator, we will be sure to let you know! FYI, it will be free and serialized hopefully in February.
#2 - Authors: if you are expecting your publisher to drop boku $$ into marketing/selling your book... sorry, it wont happen. I have proof! Pulse, set for release this May by Thomas Dunne in hardcover, has been labeled in their catalog with marketing strategies done by yours truly... not that I'm upset - as I expected that. Unless you are someone like James Rollins, which I'm not... yet, you can't expect that they are going to do anything for you other than print it. You need to push your own book! I still have to do it, whether it's through Variance or Thomas Dunne... so no more complaining, just do it!
Question: Any imprints on the way from Variance?
• Thanks to James Somers (author of The Chronicles of Soone, a young adult book with the feel of a Star Wars) for this question. Yes, one being a graphic novel imprint which is still in the talking stages - name to be determined. The other a young adult imprint, also no name determined, with it's first release being a hardcover reprint of the trade paperback version of Kristina Schram's The Chronicles of Anaedor.
See you in 2 weeks (hey, it's been working the last few episodes... why change it now?).
Variance on Facebook!
Hello again for the second time this week!
I just wanted to inform you that we have started a fan page on Facebook for the best publisher ever! ... Well, not officially, but I think so - and I hope you do too! If you would like to show your support, and have a Facebook account, it's easy to do.
1st - Log in
2nd - Type Variance Publishing in the search bar located at the upper right portion of the page (make sure you search in Facebook)
3rd - Once in, hit the 'Become a Fan' link...
and there you go! Easy, wasn't it? If you're not on Facebook, it's a great way to catch up with old friends, as well as network (or even just waste time after a stressful day) and show your support for great causes and products (... ahem)!
Just FYI, it will be updated regularly with new events, book covers, and the like, along with maybe a give-a-way or a contest here and there! Keep your eyes locked on us... we're sure to make waves - the question is... do you plan to come along for the ride?

A Great Start to the New Year!
Good day Zealots!
I hope the new year has found you well! Variance has definitely had its fair share of positives in the last week... with Steve Alten's MEG: Hell's Aquarium getting ready for ARC printing, and Steven Savile's SILVER coming to us in bits and pieces for editing, life is getting very exciting - something you too should be feeling.
...Why you may ask? What if I told you that sample chapters have been posted on each of their respective pages? Does that cause a tingle of the senses? Alten's long awaited fourth book of the NY Times bestselling series is definitely his best work to date! And #1 UK bestseller, Savile, does not disappoint either in this controversial thriller!
I truly look forward to hearing what you have to say about these samples:
- How excited have you been waiting on these titles?
- On a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being highest, how would you rate them now that you see them?
- Do you intend on buying the book when released?
Along with anything else you care to share with me and the viewing public.
Talk to you soon!
